The Marrakai Area
A successfully balanced industry and conservation habitat
The Adelaide River Floodplains are less than an hour’s drive from Darwin. Its land-use is largely pastoral contributing to the significant growth in live cattle exports, but there are also other agribusiness, tourism, recreation and Indigenous operations. Around a quarter of this area is protected and managed as conservation reserves. Each of these sectors are complementary to each other and offer a harmonious and sustainable future.
